Bridport Ball January 2010 |
| The current 'buzz' adjective in the States is "awesome"
- and that is a good way to describe the Ball.
Does that mean that these novices were petrified? No, not actually. Awesome in this context has the other meaning. It really was a very successful and enjoyable evening and both thanks and congratulations are more than due to those who organised it so successfully. To the extent that it was a very sociable occasion one of the attractions was that there was an opportunity to meet and talk to people from different groups. The theme that came through time and again from talking to others was that people liked coming to Bridport because it was welcoming, warm and relaxed. Nobody was censorious to those of us of lesser skills and people were only too happy to help when the odd slip was made. The fact that Bridport has obviously earned a wide reputation which brings people back time and again is a real credit to those who have created its unique culture. Anne and John R. |

Many thanks Strathallan for really lifting the atmosphere
at our Ball with your exceptional playing and musicality. The wonderful
selections of tunes were played by local hero Duncan Brown on the fiddle,
Martin Cairns on the piano, and on the accordion, the band leader with
the best smile on the circuit, Chris Oxtoby. |
